Before Salaris can process tips, you need to define where your tip data comes from. All tips imported into Salaris are recorded on employee paystubs for tax purposes — but not all tips need to be paid through payroll.
Import Tips Setting
Navigate to Settings> General > Import Tips > Tip Source
Select tip data source
Only one source can be selected at a time
Tip Types > All tips are included on pay stubs and declared for tax purposes.
Decide whether to Pay via Salaris.
Cash tips — typically paid out at the end of the shift, so often don't need to be paid through Salaris. They are still reported on paystubs.
Credit card tips — typically not paid out daily so paid through payroll and reported
Save in the upper-right corner to apply your settings.
Tip Example
If an employee's timecards report $100 in cash tips in Workforce Management, enabling Workforce Management as a tip source but disabling Pay via Salaris for cash tips means those cash tips are documented and taxed, but not paid again through payroll.
Tips can also be manually added against employee's during the run payroll process.
