Employees in Salaris can be set as either hourly or salaried. By default, new employees are created as hourly workers, but you can change the wage type to salary (or back to hourly) at any time.
Hourly employees
Wage information (positions and base rates) is managed in SocialSchedules, not Salaris.
By default, all employees are set as hourly.
Employees can have multiple positions (e.g., bartender, delivery driver), each with its own base rate.
Rates may be overridden for individual employees.
Hourly employees are paid based on timecards imported from SocialSchedules.
Salaris uses this data to calculate pay (hours × hourly rate).
Salaried employees
Salaries are managed directly in Salaris.
As all employees are set to hourly workers by default, a manual change is required to the wage type for salaried employees.
Salaries are entered based on annual salary (e.g. $54,000 per year).
Salaries can be updated to reflect changes in pay. Salaris records all changes in an audit trail, showing the updated amount, effective date, and who made the change.
Timecards may exist for salaried employees but are ignored for payroll calculations.
How to edit an employee’s wage type
To change an employee from hourly to salaried (or vice versa), open the employee’s profile in Salaris, select the Wages tab, and click the Change pay button.
See full steps in How to edit an employee’s wage type in Salaris.
