This article explains what each section of a paystub shows and how to interpret common fields.
Employees can access their paystubs directly from the SocialSchedules or Workforce mobile app. For detailed steps, see How to access your paystubs.
Payroll admins can also view and download paystubs in Salaris from an employee profile or completed payroll run. Learn more in How can admins view employee paystubs?.
Employee information
Lists the employee’s personal and identifying details as recorded in Salaris.
Includes:
Employee name
Address
Last four digits of the SSN
Employer information
Displays the company’s legal business name, address, and contact details as registered in Salaris.
Pay period details
Shows key payroll timing information:
Pay period start and end dates
Pay date
Earnings
Lists the employee’s gross pay for the current period and year-to-date (YTD).
Each earning line includes:
Earning type (e.g., Hourly, Salary, Overtime)
Rate
Hours worked
Current pay (for this period)
YTD hours and YTD earnings

Deductions
Lists all amounts withheld from the employee’s gross pay. These deductions may fall under three categories:
Type | Description | Examples |
Pre-tax deductions | Amounts deducted before taxes are calculated. These reduce taxable income. | Health, dental, or vision premiums; retirement plan contributions |
Tax withholdings | Mandatory taxes withheld from employee earnings based on federal, state, and local laws. | Federal income tax; State income tax (if applicable); Local tax (if applicable); Social Security tax (FICA); Medicare tax |
Post-tax deductions | Amounts deducted after taxes are applied. | Wage garnishments; Union dues |
Benefit contributions
Displays employer and/or employee contributions toward benefits such as health insurance or retirement.
If no benefits apply, this section shows zero values.
Reimbursements
Lists any reimbursements processed during the pay period (e.g., mileage, supplies).
Net pay
Shows the employee’s total take-home pay after all deductions.
This is the amount deposited to the employee’s bank account or issued by check or cash.
Year-to-date (YTD) totals
Each paystub section includes YTD columns, summarizing cumulative amounts for the current calendar year.
