Choose tip source and tip types paid by Salaris and close timescards

Before Salaris can process tips, you need to define where your tip data comes from. All tips imported into Salaris are recorded on employee paystubs for tax purposes — but not all tips need to be paid through payroll.

Import Tips Setting

  1. Navigate to Settings> General > Import Tips > Tip Source

  2. Select tip data source

    1. Only one source can be selected at a time

  3. Tip Types > All tips are included on pay stubs and declared for tax purposes.

    1. Decide whether to Pay via Salaris.

      1. Cash tips — typically paid out at the end of the shift, so often don't need to be paid through Salaris. They are still reported on paystubs.

      2. Credit card tips — typically not paid out daily so paid through payroll and reported

  4. Save in the upper-right corner to apply your settings.

Tip Example

If an employee's timecards report $100 in cash tips in Workforce Management, enabling Workforce Management as a tip source but disabling Pay via Salaris for cash tips means those cash tips are documented and taxed, but not paid again through payroll.

Tips can also be manually added against employee's during the run payroll process.

We don't pay tips

This is the default option.

Note: Regardless of which source you choose, tips can always be manually added or edited against individual employees during the payroll run.

💡NOTE:

  • The term "Cash tips" on the Import Tips screen refers to the method in which the tip was paid by the customer. (cash versus credit card)

  • The term "Cash tips" on the Run Payroll screen refers to the method in which the tip was paid out to the employee. (cash versus paycheck)

Auto-Close Timecards Setting

Timecards can have one of three statuses in SocialSchedules:

  • Pending

  • Approved

  • Closed

Timecards must be in a status of Approved to be imported into Salaris Payroll.

This setting controls whether timecards are then automatically marked as Closed after payroll is processed in Salaris Payroll.

Navigate to Settings>General.

Close timecards when Enabled (ON)

  • Timecards within SocialSchedules are automatically updated to Closed once payroll is completed (i.e. employees have been paid).

  • Makes it easy to see which timecards have already been paid.

  • No manual closing required.

Close timecards When Disabled (OFF)

  • Timecards remain in a status of Approved after payroll is processed.

  • You must close them manually if needed.
