Paydays in Salaris must be scheduled on business days when banks are open and able to move funds. If a payday falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payroll must be processed earlier to ensure employees and contractors are paid on time.
When a scheduled payday falls on a bank holiday, Salaris will automatically move the payday and associated approval deadline forward.
For example, if your regular payday is Friday and that Friday is a public holiday, Salaris will automatically update the payday to Thursday for that week.
An error will be returned if you try to create an off-cycle payroll with a paydate that falls on a weekend or bank holiday.
Processing timelines
Payroll processing depends on your company’s setup:
3-day processing: Payroll must be approved three business days before payday.
Example: If payday is Friday, approve payroll by Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
If Friday is a holiday, payday becomes Thursday and approval is due Monday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
2-day processing: Payroll must be approved two business days before payday.
Example: If payday is Thursday, approve payroll by Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
If Thursday is a holiday, payday becomes Wednesday and approval is due Monday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Weekends
Salaris does not process payments on weekends. If your payday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it will be automatically updated to the previous Friday.
Federal holidays
Payroll processing also follows the Federal Reserve Bank holiday schedule, which means Salaris will not process payments on these dates:
New Year’s Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Presidents Day
Memorial Day
Juneteenth National Independence Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
📌 Note: If a holiday falls on a Saturday, banks remain open on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, banks are closed the following Monday.
